Dearly Departed

Dearly Departed

The last will and testament of someone you never met, of a house that no longer stands. To you, the candlesticks, worn bright where a thumb found them nightly. To you, the mirror, and every face it declines to forget. To you, the table, on the condition it keep good company. To you, the chair, which asks only for a window and an afternoon. The house is gone. The family, scattered. But the estate was never the walls. It was these, and an estate must go to someone. They are yours now. Keep them well.
