Antique One-Of-A-Kind Sylvie Favorite

The tall two-part cupboard was the biggest thing many families owned, where the linens, the dishes, and the year's stores were kept behind one set of doors. Found in Béziers and dating to the 19th century, it comes from Catalonia, built in two stacked sections, four paneled doors with little white porcelain knobs opening to shelves, all on turned bun feet. Catalonia sits just over the mountains from Béziers, its own proud corner of Spain, and it built its furniture plainly and to last, the paneling and joinery here as honest as it gets. Sylvie stands it in a dining room for linens and glassware, the top shelves for the good things and the bottom for everything else.
