Antique Textile One-Of-A-Kind Jaw Dropper

Some pieces you build a whole room around. Found in Montpellier, this 18th-century verdure rises from a wide border of blown roses into a dense wooded landscape, a great tree twisting up through its center as the canopy layers back into blues and greens, the whole of it softened over the years to the quiet oxidized tones that only real age gives wool. Verdures like it were the great luxury of old French houses, woven to cover cold stone walls with an entire forest, to hold the warmth in and give a room its own window onto green in the depth of winter. Sylvie would hang it on a big empty wall, or behind the bed in place of a headboard, somewhere it has the room to be the whole view.

Notes from Sylvie:

Dear collector, this piece may show sun-faded color and a few loose threads It's all part of its age and character, just the way we like it. The colors are remarkably still vibrant after all these years, the bottom edge has some tears and loose threads, but it doesn't take away from the majesty of this piece.
