A true Sylvie favorite! This early 1900s Alsace chair, found in Béziers, shows off its sculpted back with bold cutouts, a hallmark of Alsatian folk carving that often blended whimsy with practicality. Chairs from this region were more than just seating: they carried the artistic language of rural France, with stylized motifs and silhouettes that reflected local identity and craftsmanship passed down through generations. The dark oak seat and tapered legs bear the marks of daily life while still holding strong over a century later. We have three available, sold separately, and Sylvie imagines them gathered around a farmhouse table, set in a hallway as sculptural accents, or pulled into a study where their folk-art silhouettes add character far beyond their size.
Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
