We found this early 20th-century French school desk in Avignon, its slanted top lifting in three hinged sections to reveal the kind of compartments that once hid ink bottles, notebooks, and half-finished lessons. The oak surface has worn smooth with decades of scribbles and study, while the slim frame and sun-faded tone give it that quiet, lived-in ease Sylvie can never resist.
