There’s something about a piece like this that makes you stop mid–brocante, turn it over in your hands, and know it’s coming home. Found in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, this antique copper pan would have lived close to the fire, used for everything from reducing sauces to preparing fruit over an open flame. The basin is hand-hammered and softly irregular, with a single iron loop handle riveted in place for hanging within reach. The interior shows the kind of wear that only comes from years of direct heat and daily use, the copper deepened and darkened in all the right places. Sylvie loves it set out in the kitchen, filled with lemons, exactly where it belongs.
