Hard To Find

What a clever piece of engineering for a 19th century home! Found in Avignon, this gateleg table was originally designed as a flexible dining surface, its oval top supported by swinging legs that allowed it to expand for meals and fold down when space was needed, a practical solution in modest French interiors. The turned legs, stretcher base, and original hardware show generations of use, with softened edges and worn surfaces that speak to daily life rather than display, and the table has been carefully restored by a master woodworker to ensure it still functions exactly as intended. Sylvie loves it as a dining table for intimate gatherings or as a versatile centerpiece that can fold down into a slimmer rectangular table when not in use.

This piece has been repaired by our master woodworker and functions beautifully. It has alot of patina and worn away wood from years of use. Because of its moving mechanism these tables tend to have a bit of a wiggle to them, they are still perfectly functional though.
