Found in Carpentras, this 18th-century faience plate was made in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, the Provençal pottery village whose workshops became famous in the 1600s and supplied commissioned tablewares to aristocratic and royal households across France. The hand-painted floral spray and shaped rim are classic to the region, and you can see the brush move in the cobalt decoration. There is light wear to the glaze and small firing irregularities from the kiln, all consistent with age. Sylvie stacks these into a plate wall or rests one on a kitchen shelf where the blue picks up nearby linens and ceramics. Exactly as pictured.
