This is a low table built to be used, not arranged around. Found in Béziers and dating to the 20th century, it follows the structure of older French refectory tables, with trestle ends and a central stretcher that keeps it steady and close to the ground. The top is a single, solid surface with edges worn smooth from use, and the legs are cut with a slight curve that gives the base shape without decoration. Tables like this were kept in everyday rooms, set down and used throughout the day, never cleared for long. Sylvie loves it used the same way, kept low and active, holding books, objects, and whatever else moves through the room.
