Found in Montpellier, this 1920s wooden stool came from a farm in the Pyrenees where pieces like this were used as milking stools or small work seats around the hearth and kitchen. Built low to the ground with three thick, splayed legs and a solid round seat, the form is sturdy and uncomplicated, made for daily use rather than decoration. The wood shows years of wear from farm life, with softened edges and marks across the seat from decades of use. Sylvie loves it beside the bathtub with a book and a cup of coffee.
