There’s something a little Riviera about this one. Found in Montpellier, it’s built from bamboo with woven panels across the top and sides, part of a mid-century shift when French interiors started leaning into lighter, more relaxed materials. Makers pulled from colonial trade routes and travel influence, bringing rattan and bamboo into everyday spaces as a counterpoint to heavier wood furniture. The frame is formed from thick bamboo poles with visible nodes, while the drawers are lined in narrow slats and finished with simple dark metal pulls. It’s structured, but still easy. Sylvie sees it in a sunlit room with open windows, holding a stack of books and a glass of water within reach.
