Sylvie Favorite

From the Basque region and dating to the 19th century, this sideboard was uncovered in Avignon, a piece built for farmhouse life where storage sat at the center of the home. Basque furniture from this period is known for its durability and restraint - thick-cut local woods, minimal ornament, and iron hardware forged to withstand daily use. This would have held linens, tableware, and preserved goods, opened constantly throughout the day. Sylvie loves it in a kitchen or dining room, filled with the pieces you reach for every day.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The top is a single solid plank, the table is constructed from a mix of woods with hand forged hardware, the top and face have been sanded back to raw wood while the sides retain a darker finish, and there is one interior shelf.
