From a bastide near Lourmarin and dating to the early 20th century, this long table was uncovered in Avignon, the kind of piece that would have sat at the center of daily life in a Provençal home. Bastides were built for working estates - meals shared, accounts kept, produce sorted and tables like this were made to handle all of it. The construction is straightforward and solid, with a long plank top, thick legs, and a low stretcher running the length below for stability. Sylvie loves it set in a dining space, something always resting on the surface, the table quietly keeping up with the rhythm of the day.
