A Saint-Uze pot à lait, a French milk pot from the Drôme village that's been making pottery since the 16th century. The lid is tethered to the handle by its original cord, the way these were always made so the cover didn't get lost in the dairy or the back of a cupboard. The cobalt floral border running around the top and base is the pattern the village became known for, the Bleus de Saint-Uze, hand-printed onto cream earthenware in the late 19th century. Sylvie sets it on a shelf with the lid hanging beside it, or fills it with a long handful of garden roses and lets the lid rest on the counter next to it.
