Dear collector, please note that these confit pots have glaze chips and wear throughout.

Once central to bustling French kitchens, these yellow confit pots were essential for preserving rich foods like duck confit. The half-glazed exterior protected the contents, while the unglazed bottom made it easy to bury them in cool cellars or the ground. Derived from the French word confire, meaning "to preserve," these pots were indispensable for keeping food fresh. Each chip and mark on their surface tells the story of generations past, when these pots quietly sat, holding rich delicacies until the next family feast.

Marseille, the vibrant port city of the Mediterranean, is a place where history, culture, and tradition collide. Founded over 2,600 years ago, Marseille is one of France’s oldest cities, with a rich tapestry woven from its diverse influences—Greek, Roman, and beyond.
