Antique One-Of-A-Kind Collectors Must Have

The bonnetière was the tall, slim cupboard a Frenchwoman kept her bonnets and linens in, one narrow door for a house where every inch counted. Found in Le Perche and dating to the 19th century, it stands under an arched bonnet top, a single paneled door opening to shelves lined in an old floral paper, on splayed feet over a scalloped apron. And though the floors of the Sylvie estate tilt a little, this cupboard stands perfectly straight. Sylvie keeps it in a bedroom or hall for linens and folded things, the flowered paper a little surprise each time the door swings open.

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The wood shows small chips and imperfections, with a slightly brighter semi-gloss finish on the front and unfinished wood on the back. The door and latch function properly, though the key lock does not. The top molding is removable, and old wallpaper remains in the interior. The piece sits slightly unevenly.
