Shell Dish
France, 20th Century
$75
Ooh la la! Found in Lyon, these little white dishes take the fluted fan of a shell, each one molded a touch differently and glazed clean and bright. The scallop has been a table shape forever, pressed in clay for butter and salt and small sweets, and for serving the coquilles it was named after. Sylvie would use them for butter or salt at the table, a few olives or almonds, or set one by a sink to hold soap and rings. Each sold individually, no two quite alike.
Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
