From Spain and dating to the 19th century, this large marble mortar would have been used daily for grinding spices, garlic, and herbs by hand, a cornerstone of traditional cooking across the region. Carved from a single block of stone, the thick walls and weight were essential, giving stability while ingredients were worked down with a pestle. Sylvie loves it kept on the counter, ready to be reached for again.
