Found in Montpellier and originally from Lyon, this set of two French condiment pots was made in the early 20th century for the dining table of a French household. Both are decorated in blue transferware on a cream ground, with floral and scrolled patterns wrapping the bodies and a Greek key border running along the lids. Pots like these held mustard, salt, sugar, or jam, the small things that made every meal feel like an occasion. Sylvie places them on a dinner table with the salt, the mustard, and the small silver spoons each one needs.
