Louis XIV Cabinet

France, 19th Century

Decadent and a little dramatic, just how we like it. This Louis XIV-style oak cabinet was built with authority in mind, its double-panel doors and bold X motifs echoing the grandeur of 17th-century royal design. It comes with its original key, and the interior shelves were lined in cheerful patterned paper at some point along its journey, adding just enough personality to soften the pomp. Sylvie likes to use it as a linen cabinet, stacked with freshly laundered sheets and hand-embroidered pillowcases.
