Out on a terrace or in a garden, a table like this stood through the seasons, its iron painted to take the weather. It's a French garden table, a rectangular marble top on a scrolled wrought-iron base painted a weathered blue. Iron was the material of choice for garden furniture because it could take the rain and the sun, and the paint on this one has worn down over years spent outdoors. Sylvie brings it indoors and uses it low as a coffee table, the marble holding a stack of art books and a bowl of lemons.
