Spanish Martini Table

Spain, 19th Century

$695

Every twist and scroll in this table was bent by hand at a forge, which is why no two curls of it are quite alike. It is Spanish, a tall pedestal in wrought iron, a small round tray top set on three twisted legs that gather into a knot of scrolls low down and end in curled feet. Spain has one of the great traditions of decorative ironwork, the rejería that screened its cathedrals and dressed its balconies, and a piece worked this finely at this small size is an unusual thing to come across. Sylvie sets it beside an armchair as a drinks table, its small top right at the height of the chair arm.
