The most beautiful thing in a room should also be the one you reach for every day. Found in Aix-en-Provence and dating to the late 19th century, it is a low oval table, the wide top warm and honeyed above a fluted central column ringed by four scrolled legs reaching out to the floor. The oval was the softer choice, a top with the reach of a long table but no corners to catch a hip or a knee as you pass. Sylvie sets it at the center of the seating, the top holding a stack of art books, a vase, and still room for a glass.
Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
Notes from Sylvie:
Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show subtle repairs, movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The oval top is crafted from two wide hardwood boards and has been sanded back to raw wood, revealing lighter sapwood along either side. The surface shows slight scratches and scuffs from years of use, all part of an exceptionally crafted piece of furniture.
All items are final sale.
