Antique One-Of-A-Kind Sylvie Favorite

In the Basque country a table was never quite big enough, built to stretch for the whole family and everyone they brought with them. Found in Provence and dating to the 19th century, it opens from a small round table to a long oval, its turned legs joined by an X-stretcher below, leaves dropping in to seat a crowd. It is signed by its maker, Jean Quinta of France, the mark a cabinetmaker left only on work he stood behind, built solid in the Basque way and meant to last generations. Sylvie keeps it round for two by a window, then opens it out full when the house fills up.

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The wood retains a beautiful finish and bears its maker’s mark. The table includes three leaves, two measure 43.25" H x 14.5" W x 2.75" D, the third measures 43.25" H x 11.75" W x 2.75" D. The total length with all the leaves is 109". The height from the floor to the table apron is 23.75"
