French Demi Lune Stool

France, 20th Century

$255

Antique One-Of-A-Kind Exactly As Pictured Sylvie Favorite

In a French farmhouse a little stool like this went everywhere, pulled up to the fire, stood on to reach a high shelf, carried out at milking time. Found in Le Perche and made in the 20th century, it has a half-moon seat carved with a spiral on top, set on three turned legs stacked like rows of beads. The flat side of the half-moon let it tuck back against a wall, and three legs will always sit steady on a stone floor that four would rock on. Sylvie sets it beside a chair, low enough for a cup of coffee and whatever book is going.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
