Antique One-Of-A-Kind Hard To Find Collector's Item

By the door or along a kitchen wall, a bench like this was the seat a whole household shared, where boots went on in the morning and visitors waited to be seen. Found in Le Mans and dating to the early 20th century, it is long and low with a row of turned spindles across the back, scrolled arms, and a hand-woven rush seat, all of it in remarkable condition for its age. The rush seat was woven entirely by hand, strand over strand, and to find one this old still whole and tight, never sagged or broken through, is the rare part. Sylvie sets it in an entryway with a basket on the seat and boots tucked underneath, the first thing you see coming through the door.

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The rush seat has some looseness and minor tearing from years of use. One foot sits slightly off the ground, and one of the stretchers has an age-related crack with a small section of wood missing, all consistent with years of use.
