Tall and narrow, a little table like this was made to hold one thing and show it off, a lamp, a plant, or a vase of flowers lifted to eye level. Found in Amiens and dating to the 20th century, it is a round top on a turned column, standing on a shaped tripod base with three small feet. The French call a tall stand like this a sellette, made not to sit down to but to hold something worth looking at, in a corner or beside a chair. Sylvie stands it in a corner with a fern spilling over the edge, or by an armchair for a lamp and a book.
Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
Notes from Sylvie:
Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The semi-matte wood finish shows some stains and imperfections, with a small chip along the tabletop edge and visible seams in the top and base. The table has a slight wobble consistent with years of use.
