Vintage One-Of-A-Kind Exactly As Pictured

Most farm stools were knocked together from whatever was to hand, but this one was properly turned, four shaped legs and a stretcher, made by someone who took the time. Found in Le Perche and dating to the 20th century, it has a small rectangular seat on four turned legs, joined low by a slender stretcher. The bulb-turned legs and the stretcher between them gave it strength and a little style at once, the reason a small stool like this survived a century of being sat on, stood on, and shoved out of the way. Sylvie sets it by the fire with a cup of coffee balanced on the seat, low enough to reach from the chair beside it.
