The same hands that wove baskets and chair seats in a French village could turn out a stool top like this, a round of woven wicker braided tight enough to sit on for years. Found in Amiens and dating to the 20th century, its woven seat stands on four slim rattan legs, bound low with an X-stretcher. It comes from the middle of the century, when French makers paired village basketwork with light rattan frames, and pieces from that moment have become quietly collectible since.
