19th c. French Coffee Table

France, 19th Century

$1,495

Antique One-Of-A-Kind Wood

The trestle table is about the oldest shape furniture comes in, two uprights and a beam, the same way a table was made in a monastery five hundred years ago. Found in Le Perche and dating to the 19th century, this one is a low version, a thick plank top on two carved trestle legs joined by a heavy central stretcher. Sylvie sets it in front of a sofa with a stack of art books and a small vase on top, low and solid enough to put your feet up beside.

Notes from Sylvie:

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The wood has a richly textured surface from years of use and retains a gleaming finish.
