With a drawer at each end, whoever sits down has one within reach, a small kindness built into this old oval table. Found in Belgium and dating to the 18th century, it stands low and oval on turned baluster legs joined by a box stretcher, a drawer with an iron ring pull set into each end. In the 1700s it stood at full height as a side or tavern table; brought down low, it makes a rare oval coffee table with the age and the turning of a much grander piece. Sylvie sets it in front of a sofa, a drawer at each end for candles and cards and the oval top for books and flowers.

Notes from Sylvie:
Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The semi-matte wood finish shows some paint splatters and scuffs, with slight cosmetic splitting along the tabletop. The drawer opens comfortably, and the hardware has a little rust patina. The piece is sturdy and in good condition overall.
