Oak Side Table

France, 20th Century

$375

Vintage One-Of-A-Kind Sylvie Favorite

Some tables are made to hold a whole dinner, and some, like this one, are made to hold just one thing at a time, a lamp, a candle, a single vase. Found in Chartres and made in the 20th century, it has a small round top on a single turned column that rises from a round stepped foot. Standing on one central column instead of four legs, it takes up almost no floor, the reason a little stand like this could tuck into a corner or beside a chair where nothing else would fit. Sylvie stands it in a hallway with a small lamp on top, a pool of light in a spot too narrow for anything larger.

Notes from Sylvie:

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. As each piece is unique, there is slight variation in finish and overall appearance. The tops have a slight slope to them but remain fully functional.
