It takes a rare eye to find a whole painting in a jug of wine and a basket of fruit, and this painter had it. The oil dates to the 19th century and came out of Le Perche, the table it shows laid with a green jug, a straw-wrapped bottle, and a basket of lemons on green cloth. There is a whole tradition behind it, the kitchen still life, where painters turned from gods and battles to the things actually on the table and made the everyday worth looking at. Sylvie hangs it above a sideboard with a bowl of real lemons beneath it, the painted table and the real one echoing each other.
Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
Notes from Sylvie:
Dear collector, these pieces have been used for many years and may show light wear consistent with their age. The canvas has paint chips throughout. The frame shows variation in color, along with some chipping and scratches. An eye hook on the back allows for hanging.
