Antique One-Of-A-Kind Exactly As Pictured Sylvie Favorite

Cut by hand from heavy wood, this stool has the bold, sculptural weight that makes brutalist pieces so sought after now. Found in Le Perche and made in the 20th century, it has a thick half-moon seat resting on three tapered legs, dark and solid, its only lines the honest marks of the tools that shaped it. The legs are driven straight up through the seat and wedged from above, the oldest and strongest way to build a stool, which is why it stands as sturdy today as the day it was made. Sylvie sets it under a window where the morning light rakes low across the seat and picks out every mark the tools left in the wood.
