The long bench was the seat of a full house, shared elbow to elbow down the length of a farmhouse table. Found in Lille and dating to the 19th century, it is long and low and narrow, a rounded plank top resting on two shaped end legs. The narrow top means it takes up almost no room, which is why a bench like this outlived the crowded kitchens it came from and still finds a place in a modern house. It runs beautifully along a hallway wall or at the foot of a bed, long enough for a row of books, a lamp, and a vase of something just cut.

Notes from Sylvie:
Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The semi-matte wood finish shows some light scuffs, and the piece has a very slight wobble.
