Pulled up close to the chairs by the fire, a low table like this held the small business of the evening, the cards and the candle and the cup set down within reach. Found in Le Mans and dating to the 19th century, it is low, a thick plank top over two drawers hung with dark iron cup pulls, standing on square legs. The iron pulls and their worn plates were the hardware of a country workshop, meant to be pulled daily and to outlast the hand that pulled them. Sylvie sets it in front of a low sofa, its drawers slid open for the things a room wants close by but out of sight.
Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
Notes from Sylvie:
Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The surface has small divots and age-related cracks, with some exposed nail heads visible throughout.
All items are final sale.
