French Coffee Table

France, 20th Century

$1,295

Antique One-Of-A-Kind Sylvie Favorite

Pull the little leaf out from the side and this table nearly doubles, a hidden extra surface tucked away until you want it. Found in Le Mans and dating to the 20th century, it is a low table with a shaped top and a central drawer over a scalloped apron, on turned legs, with a glass-topped slide that draws out from one end. The pull-out was an old space-saver, a second small surface hidden in the frame for when a cup or a plate needed somewhere to go, here fitted with glass to keep the wood beneath it clean. Sylvie sets it in front of a sofa, the slide drawn out for a cup when company comes and tucked away again after.

Notes from Sylvie:

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The wood shows small holes and imperfections, with slight wear to the tabletop trim and traces of paint underneath. A sliding glass panel reveals a hidden glass surface and the piece has one drawer.
