Before a machine could stamp out a frame, a metalworker made one by hand, bending each curl over a flame. Found in Le Mans and dating to the early 20th century, it frames a shaped mirror, a run of hand-forged scrolls in golden metal curling out all the way around. Every one of those scrolls was bent and hammered by hand, so they run a little uneven, no two curls the same, the kind of small imperfection that tells you a person made it and not a press. Sylvie hangs it where its old, spotted glass can catch the light, throwing back a soft, clouded version of the room.
Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
Notes from Sylvie:
Dear collector, this piece has lived a long life and may show light scratches, darkened spotting, and the occasional chip or crack, with glass that may have been replaced along the way. The clips holding in the mirror have been repaired over the years.
