Found in Lille and dating to the 19th century, this coffee table sits low on square tapered legs braced by a stretcher, a thick plank top over a single deep drawer with an iron ring to pull. Low and long like this, it likely began as a side or work table cut down to sit in front of a sofa, the kind of honest country piece that only gets better with a century of marks on it. Sylvie sets it in front of a sofa, the drawer for candles and cards and the worn top for books, flowers, and a place to put your feet.
