Vintage One-Of-A-Kind Styling Essential

In the 1950s French designers fell for bamboo, pairing its light golden canes with modern shapes, and no one did it better than Louis Sognot. Found in Le Mans and dating to the mid-20th century, this little lamp is made in his manner, four bamboo posts framing a soft parchment shade tied on with cord. Sognot was one of the French modernists who made bamboo respectable, and his lamps have become collectors' pieces, so one made in his style carries a little of that light. Sylvie sets it on a bedside table where it throws a low, warm glow through the parchment after dark.

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The fabric shows some discoloration, and the piece has a slight wobble consistent with its age. The lamp has been rewired with an American plug.
