Antique One-Of-A-Kind Sylvie Favorite

In an 18th-century French bedroom, the chest of drawers was where a whole household's clothes and linens were kept folded and in order, and the finer the house, the more carved and shaped the chest. Found in Le Mans and dating to the 18th century, it is a tall, narrow chest of six drawers, each front carved and molded, with rococo brass pulls, a shaped apron, and cabriole legs. Tall chests like this were built narrow on purpose, holding a great deal in very little floor space in rooms where every corner counted. Sylvie stands it in a corner of the sitting room by the window, a vase of wildflowers on top and the drawers keeping whatever a room needs out of sight.
