French Wicker Side Stool

France, 20th Century

$295

Vintage Rare Sylvie Favorite

The best small tables can be two things at once, and this pair is exactly that, two half-moons that push together into a full round table or split to stand apart. Found in Le Mans and dating to the 20th century, each is a half-moon of bamboo and rattan with a caned top, curved to meet its twin along a straight edge. They come from the mid-century love of rattan in France, light enough to move on a whim, and because they were made to work together or alone, you can take one or both. Sylvie pushes the two together for a round table by the sofa, or sets one on its own beside a chair, flat edge to the wall. Two fit together but sold separately.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.

Notes from Sylvie:

Dear collector, as with many antiques, these pieces may show signs of their age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. Each stool has its own unique wear and patina. On one stool, a rubber foot pad has been replaced with a felt bumper. Sold separately, the stools are a very close match.
