Out through the trees rides a lord on a white horse, his hounds fanning ahead, the whole hunt caught mid-step in wool. Found in Belgium and dating to the 20th century, it is a hunting scene deep in a forest, worked in soft greens and golds inside a wide border of flowers. Belgium has been the heart of European tapestry for five hundred years, and the hunt was among its oldest and grandest subjects, woven for the walls of great houses where the chase stood for noble life. Sylvie hangs it in a study or a dining room, the hunt carrying on quietly over the room.
