Monumental Oak Coffee Table

France, 19th Century

$4,295

Every living room needs one piece that hides the clutter, and a low table with three deep drawers does it better than most. Found in Lille and dating to the 19th century, it sits long and low in oak, three paneled drawers hung with hand-forged iron ring pulls, on short block legs. The swinging iron rings and their forged plates were a blacksmith's work, made to be pulled every day and outlast the hands that pulled them. Sylvie sets it in front of a sofa, the drawers for candles and cards, the long top for a stack of books and a big bowl of fruit.
