Antique One-Of-A-Kind Sylvie Favorite

A farmhouse table saw more of a family's life than any other piece in the house, the meals and the homework and the bread dough and the long talks after dark, all of it worked into one well-used top. Found in Avignon and dating to the 20th century, it carries a parqueted top worn smooth over the years, set on turned baluster legs braced low by an H-stretcher, with a drawer at either end. In France the farm table was the piece built to be kept, eaten at and passed down by one generation after another, which is why so many of them wear their age so beautifully. Sylvie would give it a kitchen or a dining room and let it go on gathering people, a candle and a bowl of fruit at its center between meals.

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The table has a beautiful gleaming finish, with some staining and cracks along the stringer between the legs from its long history. A small drawer on either end opens comfortably.
