Antique Side Table

France, 19th Century

$895

A drawer in a table this small was for the little things you wanted near but out of sight, a key, a letter, a pair of reading glasses. It sets a molded-edge top over a single drawer with a little quatrefoil pull, on turned legs joined low by an H-stretcher. The French would call it a table d'appoint, the small side table a room keeps for whatever it needs close at hand. Sylvie would set it beside a bed or a chair, a lamp and a book on top and the small things tucked in the drawer.

Notes from Sylvie:

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The top shows wear from its long history, with a mix of finished and raw wood, some scratches, and small spots of glue. The drawer opens comfortably and has a finished wood interior.
