19th c. Farm Table

France, 19th Century

$2,495

Antique One-Of-A-Kind Wood

Years of meals have polished the top to a warm shine. Found in Chartres and made in the 19th century, it carries a plank top over two deep drawers with brass pulls, raised on slender turned legs. The French farm table was the hardest-working piece in any house, and this one was never stripped back, keeping the warm, reddish tone that years of wax and use give wood. Sylvie styles it as an entryway table, a lamp and a bowl for keys on top and the mail in the drawers, or runs it in the dining room where those same two drawers keep the linens close.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.

Notes from Sylvie:

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The semi-matte wood finish shows minor scratches, chips, and cup stains, with small splits along the tabletop. The drawers slide easily and have unfinished wood interiors. The table is sturdy and solid, with all the little signs of a life well lived.
