A little table for a cup, a candle, one thing at a time. Found in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, it sets a round top with a finely stepped edge on a single turned baluster column, rising from a wide disc base cut in concentric rings. The guéridon was made to be the smallest and most movable table in the house, light enough to carry wherever it was wanted and set beside a chair to hold a candlestick, a glass, or a book left open. Sylvie pulls it up beside a chair for a coffee, or sets it by the bed with a lamp and whatever you are reading.
