A table de chevet takes its name from the chevet, the head of the bed, for it spent its life within arm's reach of a sleeper. Found in Avignon and made in the 20th century, it carries a single drawer above an open shelf, raised tall on four turned legs that end in small ball feet, with round finials capping the corners. The bedside table came into its own alongside the reading lamp, a slim stand made to hold a light, a book, and whatever you set down last at night. Sylvie would place it by a bed with a lamp and a few books, or use it on its own as a narrow little side table.

Notes from Sylvie:
Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The feet don't sit perfectly flat on the floor, so a little movement is possible and there is some minor staining to the top surface.
