Spanish Rush Bench

Spain, 20th Century

$595

This is a true Sylvie favorite. The 1900 Provincial Spanish Rush Seat Bench is a wonderful example of early 20th-century Spanish provincial furniture. Hand-carved from oak with a hand-woven rush seat, benches like this were commonly found in rural Spanish homes and farms. Sylvie adores using these benches at the end of a bed or along a hallway, styled with books on the surface and vessels at her feet.

Notes from Sylvie:

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The base is painted brown with some chipping that reveals the lighter wood beneath. The rush was also painted brown at one point, though most of the paint has worn away, leaving its natural color largely visible.
